Team Captains Show Off Retro Uniforms for 2010 Outdoor Classic

Team captains try out their retro jerseys and pose for a photo in anticipation of the big game: the 2010 Outdoor Classic, sponsored by Little Caesars.  The inaugural outdoor hockey event, to be held at Clark Park in Southwest Detroit, features games between the junior varsity and alumni teams from both schools and concludes with a match-up between the varsity teams, two teams that are perennial state champions in high school boys’ hockey in Michigan, at 2 p.m.  The event also marks the 75^th meeting between the varsity boys’ hockey teams of Cranbrook High School and Detroit Catholic Central High School.  Pictured here are: Patrick Brown, senior, co-captain, Cranbrook (white jersey), of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Eric Winkler, senior, captain, CC, (blue jersey), of Novi, MI.  For more information or for media to cover the event, please visit www.outdoorclassicdetroit.com or www.MIHL.com .

            Detroit Catholic Central vs Cranbrook

Detroit Catholic Central and Cranbrook have been competing against each other in the sport of hockey since 1935.  And it has been a storied rivalry that has been played out in rinks all across the metro Detroit area - from the hallowed outdoor facility at Cranbrook, the Wallace Ice Arena, Olympia Stadium, Riverside Arena (ON), Redford Ice Arena and to the Compuware Arena and many rinks in between.

Since the sanctioning of the sport of hockey by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) in 1979 they have combined for 23 MHSAA State Championships (CC – 9 Division I, CK – 14 Division III).
