Grosse Pointe North started its hockey program in 1984 and during its first 13 seasons of play it only reached a modicum of success. In the summer of 1998, after their worse season in the history of the program, Grosse Pointe North hired Scott Lock to take over the hockey program.  In his first season as head coach Scott brought instant respectability to the program – the team earned 17 victories and was ranked in the Top 10 in the state throughout the season.

This season, the 25th Anniversary of the Grosse Pointe North Hockey Program, finds the team one of the most successful and respected teams in the state - mainly due to the commitment and drive of so many people. More importantly, the teams throughout the years began to realize that they are more than teammates or classmates, but rather they are a family.

Grosse Pointe North currently competes in Division II of the MHSAA State Tournament and in the 2000 -2001 season joined the prestigious Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League (MIHL).  “Joining the MIHL has been extremely critical to the overall success of our program.  When you compete with the best, you become one of the best,” explained Scott.

The team has always followed the philosophy of “Tradition never Graduates”.

This Philosophy has resulted in tremendous success for the team and the individual players:

      MHSAA State Championships - 2001, 2002,

MHSAA State Final Four - 2001, 2002, 2007, 2008, 2009

MHSAA Regional Championships - 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009.
